Someone pays. ChatGPT makes a paper. Scott checks it. Done. 💸📰✅
Four layers. One extremely unnecessary media empire. 🏢🗞️🦩
Headline Material is the real brand. The other names are products, fictional publishing machinery and the customer’s own generated newspaper.
Everyone has a story worth putting on the front page.
The world’s least reliable news organization.
Unique to the recipient and occasion.
Celebrate them.
Birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, retirement, graduations, milestones. Warm, witty, affectionate, possibly ridiculous.
nicefunnygiftableInvestigate them.
Golf trips, buddies, coworkers, fantasy leagues, roasts, revenge and other situations in which trust has clearly broken down.

ChatGPT Sites
Brand, examples, short order form and the customer-facing experience. Scott can maintain it by talking to ChatGPT instead of developing a relationship with cPanel.
One checkout link
A third-party payment page. Card information stays with the payment processor, not inside Scott’s tiny newspaper kingdom.
Gmail
NEW and DONE can be labels. A sophisticated enterprise order database would mostly provide a more expensive way to spell “inbox.”
ChatGPT
Generate the paper using the same Headline Material rules and the same visual reference pack; Scott checks it before delivery.
Point HeadlineMaterial.com at the ChatGPT Site using the DNS values Sites gives you. Then forget what DNS stands for. 🧠🗑️
Ideally: a few clicks, one suspicious glance, send. 👀📤
Notice order
Gmail says somebody has made a poor financial decision involving Brian.
Fulfil order
Open the dedicated Newspaper Generator chat; give it the order. “Fulfil this order” should eventually be enough.
QC + send
Check names, tone, obvious image/text weirdness and whether it is actually funny. Regenerate if needed; then deliver.
The customer should click-click-click and escape. 🖱️🖱️🏃
Aim for about a minute or two. The questionnaire has a large brain behind it, but the customer sees only the useful bits.
Who?
Name, relationship, occasion. Mostly taps.
What’s their deal?
Choose a few traits; one killer question does the heavy lifting:
“What does this person take WAY more seriously than everyone else does?”
How far?
Absurdity level and a separate Clean → Cheeky → Adult → Blue control; plus off-limits topics.
The customer supplies signals. RPI manufactures the material.
Do not ask the image generator to invent taste every time. 🎨🧼
Give it a small, consistent visual reference pack. Think “house style,” not “please make a newspaper-ish thing.”
3 newspaper references
Layouts, density, masthead behaviour, rules, columns, headline scale; examples that feel convincingly printed rather than startup-adjacent.
2 illustration styles
For example: newspaper spot cartoons, engravings, crude halftone photo treatment, editorial diagram language. Pick a small family and reuse it.
RPI identity bits
Logo/wordmark, little “RPI NEWSWIRE” devices, disclaimer treatment and a handful of recurring visual jokes.
Journalism is not.
Facts were supplied by a person who knows the subject and clearly has an agenda.
Later, if this becomes a real volume business, Ray’s actual WOFF2/OTF fonts and deterministic HTML/CSS layout can replace the image-generator typography. That is Phase “customers have made this problem worth solving,” not Phase Tuesday.
The personalised free preview is clever. It is also not required on day one. 🧠⏳
The fancy funnel is still a good idea: quick intake → one excellent personalized headline → locked teasers → $4.99 to release the full paper. But live generation, sessions and instant fulfilment add moving parts.
Version 1
Show several excellent examples. Customer orders. Scott fulfils manually. Learn whether anyone pays.
Version 2
If people buy, add the irresistible personalized preview and automate the boring bits one at a time.
Things Scott does not need to learn yet. 🚫🧙♂️
NOW · embarrassingly simple
ChatGPT Site + checkout + Gmail + ChatGPT image generation + Scott QC.
IF ORDERS START ARRIVING
Add a scheduled ChatGPT task to check Gmail for new orders and prepare a clean generation brief. Automation removes a repeated annoyance; it does not arrive in a parade.
IF FIVE-ISH ORDERS A DAY GET ANNOYING
Automate more fulfilment. Codex can build tiny bits of glue once we know exactly which repetitive step deserves to die.
IF THIS BECOMES AN ACTUAL THING
Then consider API generation, deterministic typesetting, automated PDF/PNG output, proper order tracking, analytics and other grown-up nouns.
Manufacture embarrassment, not allegations. ⚖️🍅
“Blue” can mean profanity, innuendo and ruthless jokes. It does not mean inventing plausible crimes, hatred, affairs, abuse, addiction, medical claims or other material that could genuinely damage somebody.
Fine
“International tribunal opens investigation into Brian’s golf swing.” Obviously absurd; gloriously unnecessary.
Nope
Plausible accusations of real wrongdoing or hateful beliefs. A disclaimer is not a magical defamation cape.
Blame the source
“This investigation was commissioned by someone the subject probably trusted.” Funny; also makes the satire unmistakable.
The scoreboard is tiny. That is the point. 💵📊
Visitors
Did anyone care enough to look?
Orders
Did a stranger surrender actual money?
Minutes/order
Is this becoming a job? Bad newspaper. Bad.
Shares/referrals
Did one victim create the next customer?
Twenty real paid orders teach us more than three months spent designing the perfect automated newspaper factory.
Do one enjoyable thing. Then stop. 🏁🦆
Give ChatGPT the Headline Material brand hierarchy, a handful of Ray’s visual references, the two product categories and three sample newspapers. Ask it to make the simplest site that could plausibly take an order.
Do not connect APIs. Do not automate fulfilment. Do not construct a Customer Experience Platform. Do not open cPanel “just to look.”
You are permitted to ignore this section. 🕳️🤓
Could ChatGPT Sites use HeadlineMaterial.com?
Yes, where custom domains are available for the account. Sites provides DNS records; those are added once at the domain registrar. After that, Scott maintains the Site in ChatGPT.
Could a scheduled task watch Gmail?
Yes, if Gmail is available and connected for the account. Scheduled Tasks are better for recurring checks than instant webhooks. Hourly is plenty for a five-dollar novelty newspaper.
Could Codex automate fulfilment later?
Yes. But use Codex after a repeated nuisance is visible. “Automate this exact step I have done forty times” is a much safer assignment than “build me an autonomous newspaper empire.”
Could the final product eventually use real fonts?
Absolutely. WOFF2 fonts plus deterministic HTML/CSS layout would produce much more consistent typography. Save that improvement for when image-generator typography becomes an actual sales or volume problem.
